Solitude

Preferring a second of solitude over a minute of love,
I’ve gotten used to the hushed whispers of the shadows,
The silent snickers of the walls who listen to my bated breath.

In a time as quiet as this, when finally
The roars stop shaking the world
The wail of animals stop breaking our hearts
The sky is cleaner and the grass, greener

When finally,
The rush comes to an end
The fights pause
The smoke clears
Hate perishes

When finally,
A moment arises
Love awakens
And music starts
A piece of peace

This extended silence,
Is a breath of fresh air
Where I lay down my thoughts
And come alive
New and refreshed

When my mind no longer plays the game
Instead, it sits back
And ends that endless cycle
Knowing
That the end is just the beginning
Of something new
Where I will break this pattern of hatred
And churn it into a rhythm of love.
